A Girly Weekend...

A couple of weekends ago I was lucky enough to have my two eldest nieces, Claudia & Annabelle for pretty much the entire weekend!
This is extra exciting because a little over six months ago they moved permanently to Pottsville - just over an hours drive away, but between work & everything else that seems to fast-forward my weeks, I don't find the time to drive down very often.

This time I had two nights & the most of two days to spend with these gorgeous little ladies... all sorts of fun, mischief & silliness was had.

Friday afternoon, after picking Annabelle up from school in Pottsville, it was back up the coast to Tweed Heads to meet Claud at her soccer game... That's her in the purple... Her team won!

We then discovered the goodness of Hungry Jacks' Mini burgers before dinner at Grandma's...

Home-made pizza's with chocolate milk and some red wine for the old girl & I...

Followed by hot Milo, Pringles & Mentos while watching a Narnia movie...

Tiring as the Friday afternoon & night had been - there was no time to waste!
It was up early for breakfast, then driving into Southbank...
Second Breakfast was had at a Spanish restaurant we discovered called "Ole'!" Churros & thick hot chocolate...
Then we were off to the Lifeline book fair at the Convention Centre, followed by a walk through the markets, a stop in at the beading shop, a visit to the Sweet Shop & lunch at Max Brenners!
Mum & I also gobbled down a corn on the cob each, much to Claud & Belle's horror; they opted for the popcorn instead.

Since none of us in the family get the chance to see Claud & Belle very often, we took the opportunity to let them catch up with some of their cousins... Jack, Taylor & an out-like-a-light Bailey...

It had been another full-on day, but no time to rest.
We gathered our loot from the day together... Books, lollies, magazines & some odd bits.

Of course, there was call for spraying green in out hair.

We closed the night in by being crazy, eating 2-minute noodles for dinner (followed by Grandma's Apple Crumble) & cramming in as much of out sweets as possible before bed.

Sunday morning it was time for a much needed sleep in. After laying in bed chatting for a while, it was time for breakfast.
Claud & Belle were most disappointed when they discovered I was out of Nutella. This called for a walk to the servo down the road...
In our PJ's, in the rain...

With a very serious game of UNO following breakfast, it was time to let our hair down before having to part ways again...

This meant giant balloons, silly string & bubbles...

A quick hello to Uncle Reece before we started to pack up.

Finally no more green hair, properly clothed & now entirely exhausted, we made it to Robina to meet Claud & Belle's Mum for lunch at The Coffee Club.

I miss these gorgeous girls so much when I don't see them & look forward to weekends like this where we can hang out doing things we all enjoy, gorge ourselves on yummy food & get a little crazy.

For now, I'm still removing silly string from the carpet & finding clothes & hair clips under & inside very random places to remind me of our funky & special weekend.
Love you two xoxo

Asbestos & Owl Mugs...

My beautiful Mumsy is always thinking of every little thing.

Poor Mum was so excited she was getting a brand spanking new bath put in this week! Mum & I had BIG plans for this new bath. You see, I love baths, so Mum was going to let me test her new one out. We were gearing up for a salmon rissole dinner to precede this exciting event.

Sadly, when the workmen came to fit this new beauty, they found asbestos in the bathroom wall.

So, for the entire week, Mum has been sealed off from her bathroom, having to go here & there for showers & when she wasn't able to make it to someones house - having a scrub from the laundry sink. Not to mention the workmen in & out of the house. Although needing these fellas to do the job, in the recent rain, she has had quite a clean up job day after day when they leave the house.

After a week of stress & being demanded at home to let workmen in & then ordered out of the way all day, Mum has felt a little unsettled not being able to relax in her home.

Despite all of this, she has, as always, still managed to keep up with her 6 kids & 11 grandchildren, brightening up my sisters dining room with some gorgeous yellow roses this morning & then buying me a special present today...

I am holding a girls morning tea in a couple of weeks at my house & unsure of how well stocked my cupboard was with cups for the occasion, Mum picked me up this gorgeous set of owl printed mugs!
